Rector Tasks NBTE on Information Dissemination Kwara From Tunde Sanni in Ilorin Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Offa, Kwara State, Dr. Razaq Bello, has called on National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and other similar bodies in the country to establish networks for enhanced information dissemination and resource sharing among tertiary institutions in the country. Bello, who was addressing participants at a workshop in the institution, however advocated for a special grant for special computerisation projects in tertiary institutions. He added that "the current environment requires a technological skilled workforce of computer scientists and professional staff in various areas. Opportunities should be created and made available for these staff to constantly acquire further training." Bello said if his suggestions were adhered to, they would go a long way to complement the efforts of institutions that are serious about training students who could be relevant for the country in future. The workshop tagged: "Information Technology and Management of Government Information in a Democratic Dispensation," was organised by the institution's School of Communication and Information Technology. The rector, who expressed worry over the low pace the nation was moving in information technology, said the country needed to do more to catch up with other countries of the world. Calling for assistance from non-governmental organisations (NGOs) for institutions running computer programmes, he advised parents to part with some "token" to get quality education for their children.
