'Lagos PDP's Better Positioned'
By Olawale Olaleye
Chairman of the Lagos State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Murhtala Ashorobi has said the party in Lagos is better positioned now with discipline inculcated in members.
Ashorobi who spoke with THISDAY said unlike the increasing indiscipline occasioned by anti-party activities that was sometime pervading the affairs of the party, his leadership has moved in to address every such problem with a view to putting an end to them.
He said discipline is synonymous with an organised party system and that any party that does not parade members who are seen as disciplined cannot be said to be a proper political party. He said the party in Lagos has become stronger and better than what it used to be.
"Can you see that party in the state is now different. Can you see now that discipline is our watch word. We have changed the orientation of our people and the party is better for it. PDP of yesterday is obviously not the PDP of today. There is a great difference and that difference is the effort of the leadership", he said.
Ashorobi however appealed to members to continue to be loyal and toe the path of party's directives. He said they should have noticed that the party has begun to assert itself in the scheme of things in the state and that there should be concentrated effort to see that the shared dream is achieved.
He also called on old members to tolerate new ones. He said the strength of the party can be measured more in terms of the number of people it can parade as core members. He discarded the idea of discouraging and frustrating new members, saying it would be counter-productive.
The PDP chief called on members to continue to be loyal and faithful. He implored them that they have nurtured the party to a point they cannot afford to turn back adding that sooner, they would begin to enjoy the fruits of their labour.
