NATIONAL NEWS Mohammed denies slapping fellow senator By Emmanuel Aziken, Abuja Saturday, October 16, 2004 SENATOR Isa Mohammed (PDP, Niger) alleged  to have slapped his colleague, Senator Iyabo Anisulowo has denied the incident.  Senator Mohammed, vice-chairman of the Senate Committee on States and Local governments in a statement yesterday, however, admitted a heated argument between himself and Senator Anisulowo, chairman of the Senate Committee on states and local governments. He said it could not have been possible for him to slap the Committee chairman and immediately followed her in the same vehicle to a Committee function. The statement signed by him read thus: “My attention has been drawn to a statement credited to Senator Iyabo Anisulowo in various newspapers alleging that my good self slapped her within the premises of the National Assembly. I wish to state categorically that I did not slap Senator Iyabo Anisulowo.” “On Thursday, 14th October 2004 at about 10:30 am members of the Senate Committee on States and Local government Administration were gathered at the National Assembly to embark on an official assignment when we had a heated argument over committee issues.” “Could it have been possible for me to slap Senator Iyabo Anisulowo, and immediately thereafter we drove in the same vehicle for further Committee assignment.” “Honestly, what she did by accusing me of slapping her is an after thought.
