Suspected Assasins Murder Kwara Education Board Accountant
From Abiodun Fagbemi Ilorin

THE immediate past accountant of the Kwara State Primary Education Board, (KWSPEB), Mr. Michael Agboola, was on Friday night killed by suspected assassins at his Agbabiaka residence, Off Gaa-Akanbi Area, Ilorin.

Narrating the sad incident to sympathizers yesterday in Ilorin, the wife of the deceased said some unidentified masked young men had forcefully entered into their apartment at about 8.40pm, demanding their own share of the N150,000 he had allegedly collected in the bank early in the day.

She said she had intervened with the hope of pacifying the assassins with a sum of N80,000,being proceeds from her business, but to no avail.

"Two of then in mask refused the plea and instead told me point blank that they had a mission to kill my husband," Mrs Agboola said amidst profuse tears.

"They, at this point, shot him in the chest and then went ahead to finish his head with a cudgel. My mother in-law and my children were right there watching the ugly scene with me," she added.

The state government recently commenced a probe into the past activities of the SPEB and the deceased was one of the principal witnesses who gave evidence before Justice Oluwayemi Ajayi led panel.

The late Agboola until his death was on employee at the State Treasury Department of the Accountant General's Office, Ilorin.

A devout Christian, and member of the Christ Apostolic Church, Gaa-Akanbi, Agboola was said to be a native of Odo-Owa, Oke-Ero Local Government Area.

The state's Public Relations Officer, Gideon Marcus, was said to be on leave when The Guardian visited his office. His deputy was not available at the weekend.
