Amah has expressed fear over possibility of a reliable and realistic head count if there is no separate personnel to undertake registration of deaths and births. He said the registration of death and birth ought to be streamlined and a separate work-force created between now and 2005 for a meaningful process. Mr. Amah made these known at a three day seminar for registrars on birth and death. "Local government and states were registering, bringing about conflict. The creation of a separate workforce would avert such conflicts, "he said. Mr. Amah however disclosed that recruitment of staff for the new office is covered by the 2005 budget. Earlier, Ebonyi State federal commissioner of NPC, Mr. Fabian Nwachukwu said the commission has established a total of 1770 registration centres as the registration centres for births, deaths and still - births in the country. � 2004 @ Champion Newspapers Limited (All Right Reserved).
