...In Kano Students get N240m scholarship No fewer than 24, 000 Kano State indigenes studying at various universities and higher institutions have received the sum of N240 million as scholarship offered by the state government. The executive secretary of the state scholarship board, Alhaji Muhammadu Lawan Rano, who revealed this, added that the payment covered 2003/2004 academic session. He observed that the allowance paid has substantial increase compared to the previous payment, prior to the coming of Governor Ibrahim Shekarau into power. The scholarship scribe, who noted that the overhaul in the students’ scholarship would motivate them to redouble performance, stated that about 10,000 have so far applied for the 2004/2005 scholarship awards.
