...In Lagos Report erring bakers, Master Bakers urge Lagosians Master bakers, a body of professional bread bakers in Lagos State has urged people to report any baker who uses the bromate substance to bake bread for proper sanctions. The chairman of the association, Alhaji Abdullateef Oguntoyinbo, who disclosed this at the World Bread Day ceremony held at the Onikan Stadium, Lagos on Saturday, said the use of bromate substance in the making of bread is injurious to health. According to him, since 95 percent of Nigerians consume bread, it is necessary for them to be in the vanguard of quality and hazard-free bread, noting that the only measure to get rid of such erring bakers is for the public to report them to the body that will now take appropriate steps to sanction them. Alhaji Oguntoyinbo, while commenting on the World Bread Day, said that the occasion was a good moment to reflect on good and standard bread that is safe for consumption by Nigerians. The occasion, which was sponsored by Unilever Plc, witnessed a large turnout of bread bakers in and outside the state, school children and marketers. MORE....
