From Hammed Shittu in Osogbo
Lagos State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Alhaji Rauf Aregbesola at the weekend declared that the Alliance for Democracy (AD) was undergoing a repositioning so as to control power again especially in the South-West in year 2007.
Fielding questions from newsmen at Ilesa in Osun State during the N500 million endowment and development fund of the state College of Education, Ilesa, Aregbesola said "the situation in some states controlled by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South-West was sympathetic and worrisome."
According to him; "AD is a party of the masses and by the time the party takes its stand, it will be a party to beat in 2007."
He said "the present position of AD is re-engineering and re-positioning in order to wrestle power in the future polls in the country."
Aregbesola who hails from Ilesa, Osun State, said "one may not rule out of his intention to come home in 2007, moreso the present situation of the state under PDP is catastrophic." He added, "what is my pre-occupation now is to set good agenda for AD in Osun State so as to prepare the party for future electoral victory."
Aregbesola who accused some PDP governments in the South-West of bad governance, said "the AD would work hard to better the lots of the masses when the time comes."
His words: "Go and take assessment tour of PDP controlled states particularly in some parts of the South-West since they took over power, you will see that they have not meet up the representatives of the electorates."
The commissioner who was the chief launcher at the launching expressed disgust over the state of education in the state.
Aregbesola also condemned the insensitivity of the government to the college in the past twenty five years, which according to him has affected the dilapidation of infrastructure facilities at the college.
