SPEB Chief's Murder: Police Commence Investigation

Kwara State Police Command is expected to investigate the weekend murder of Mr Micheal Agboola, the former Controller of Finance and Accounts of the State Primary Education Board (SPEB) by yet to be known killers.
Agboola was killed at his Ibedo residence on Friday night by assailants who also made away with his laptop and his wife's N80,000.
The murder acording to the narations of Agboola's widow, Eunice, may have been the fall back of the probe instituted into the defunct administration of the primary education board by the Bukola Saraki administration.
Agboola, lately was a senior official in the Pensions Department of the Treasury Headquarters at the Accountant General's office.
He was before his redeployment to the Accountant General office,the state crown witness before the Justice Oluwayemisi Ajayi Judicial Commission of Enquiry into activities of SPEB between May 1999-May 2003.
Eunice told sympathising newsmen who called at their residence along Onikanga area of Gaa-Akanbi that the murder of her husband has been reported to the police who asked questions on the last moment of her hubby and a detailed account of the murder.
Police spokesman in the state, Marcus Gideon assured that the command shall leave no stone unturned in trackking down the killers and their patrons.
Gideon confirmed that the state police boss, Muhammadu Dikko Abubakar was out of the state but promised that the command was up to the task of bursting the seven-man gang.
When THISDAY made a call to the commissioner's phone yesterday, a male voice maintained that the police boss was yet to return from his trip.
The widow gave an eyewitness account of the gory incident to newsmen at the weekend, narrating that the assassins came calling around 7.30 p.m on Friday night throwing their Ibedo Close, off Joseph Bamigboye Street, Onikanga area of Gaa-Akanbi residence into pandemonium.
She recalled that her husband killers upon gaining entry into the residence demanded for her husband who came later out of the bedroom to meet his 'visitors'.
According to her, "they demanded for the sum of N150,000 that he went to collect from the bank on Friday and had hardly allowed him to respond when they dragged him to the sitting room."
The seven man gang, she said also ransacked the house where they saw files containing SPEB affairs and which her husband used in giving a testimony at the judicial panel.
The files she added, were later thrown on the floor while they made away with the laptop which contained vital informations on the accouts of the primary education board and other things.
The widow added that she pleaded with the killers to spare her man, offering them all the N80,000 on her "which they took and even threatened to kill me as I was persisting in my plea. One of them showed me a gun which he would use to silence me".
She added that the assassins upon gainig entry into their residence asked of their children one after the other by calling them by their names, a sign to slow they had in information in the family prior to their visit.
Eunice added that the killers later strangulated her husband in their sitting room while they smashed a lit lantern on him while one of them marhed his lifeless body on the head.
The killers, according to her also made away with all their handsets to foreclose any hot chase on them while they locked them inside a room.
She added that all her children as well as her mother were inflicted with gunbutt injuries as the killers hit them on the head or on the shoulder to facilitate their easy escape.
