Police Kill 5 Robbers Gombe From Saka Ibrahim in Gombe Five robbers terrorising Gombe, the Gombe State capital and its environs were yesterday killed by the police. The robbers, once convicted for robbery, were led by Ismaila Adamu, and were killed during a shoot-out with the police on patrol in Gombe. State Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr Ambrose Aisabor, while parading the bodies at the force headquarters, denied speculation that the police were involved in robbery cases. According to Aisabor, "no policeman was involved in any robbery or indicted by robbers." Items recovered from the robbers included television sets, video players, guns, hand sets, rifles and electronic gadgets worth millions of naira. Aisabor appealed to people to endeavour to expose criminals in their midst, in order to reduce crime rate. Apart from Gombe, the robbers had operated in neighbouring Bauchi and Taraba states.
