Police Kill 2 ANPP Supporters Zamfara Policemen attached to the Government House in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, weekend shot and killed two persons and injured four others, who were believed to be supporters of All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP). Crisis started when some angry ANPP youths attempted to force their way into the premises in line with the state party Chairman, Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari. THISDAY learnt that the policemen at the Government House main gate had prevented the youths from gaining entry into the premises. Eyewitnesses said the police had to open fire when the youths resorted to attacking and vandalising vehicles going in and out of the premises, thus killing two and injuring four others. It was however gathered that the timely arrival of the state Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Ibrahim Machi, saved the situation as he pacified the rampaging youths. Speaking to newsmen shortly after the incident, Machi described the incident as very unfortunate and promised to investigate the killings. He advised parents to always monitor the activities of their children and warned the youths against taking the law into their hands. "I am using this opportunity to assure the people that full investigation would be conducted to find out the truth," he said. Meanwhile, security had been beefed up around the Government House to prevent any possible attacks.
