'Fayose's Father Never Disowned Son'
Lagos
Mrs. Bimpe Sorinolu, sister to Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayo Fayose, has described as untrue and baseless some media reports that their father, Pastor John Olorunfemi Fayose, threatened to disown Otunba Emmanuel Fayose and herself.
Sorinolu, who claimed that she found it "shocking to read on pages of some newspapers today (yesterday)," in a statement made available to THISDAY, said her father found it disheartening to learn that he allegedly granted an interview, stating that he was going to disown Emmanuel and herself.
Sorinola, in the statement entitled: "Re: Gov Fayose's Father Disowns Siblings" noted that her father has "denied speaking with any media on the issue," but was however, quick to point out that "he (her father) confirmed cautioning and chastising the two brothers in two different phone calls to them as a father would."
She added that her father "did not join me in any manner with the issue."
She explained that the new dimension to the whole issue was made possible by those who never wanted anything good for the family and who were bent on dragging the name of the family to the mud.
"It is apparent that some over ambitious friends, associates and aides of His Excellency, who are benefiting from the crises are blowing things out of proportion to rubbish my person and cause more havoc to the family name," the statement stressed.
While acknowledging that one could not completely remove the fact that crisis did not exist in the family before now, Sorinola observed that "it is true that there is misunderstanding between my two brothers and there is no reason to drag my name into the controversy," observing that "I am not a politician and neither do I have any political ambition."
She however warned those fanning the ember of discord in the family to desist henceforth from such actions as the family was making efforts to resolve all its internal wranglings.
