Association of Former Local Government Chairmen and Councilors in Nigeria (AFLOG), has said it would continue to uplift and sustain viable democratic virtues which will go a long way in facilitating grassroots development in the country.
National Chairman of the association and former Chairman of Ebonyi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Hon. Ado Awan, who spoke during the swearing in ceremony of the Chairman/CEO of Dasab Airline Limited, Dr. Titus Babayemi as National Grand Patron of the association, noted that the group's membership "is clearly national with over 44, 644 members, cut across party lines, 774 local government areas and 8,810 electoral wards in Nigeria".
Awam, who performed the investiture ceremony and presentation of certificate office to Babayemi amidst the National Executives and delegates from six geo-political zones of the country said Babayemi was recognised based on his believe in the organisation.
In his acceptance speech, Babayemi thanked the Association for giving him the opportunity to serve the organisation and country in his capacity as the national grand patron. He expressed confidence in AFLOG as one association that will foster peace, unity and progress in Nigeria.
According to him, AFLOG is a grassroots Association that he believe in and that the Association remains a veritable plat form from which future leaders at different levels within and outside Nigeria will emerge.
He, however, cautioned members against any act capable of causing disaffection among them and disunity in the pursuit of the organisation's goals and objectives.
While pledging his unflinching support for the organisation's programmes and activities in due course, Babayemi said he was dedicating his award and investiture to Chief Olusegun Obasanjo (CCFR) President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria whom he said is a lover of peace and unity.
