Petty Trader Wins First N450,000 in Pepsi Promo
Collins Okoye, a petty trader at Ijora Badiya in Lagos, has emerged as the first winner in the on-going Pepsi Stars "Wanted" consumer promotion.
"This is manna from heaven, an ecstatic Okoye said, stressing his surprise at the win: It is only God that can make a guy drink a bottle of N25 Mirinda and win N450,000. "
After receiving his cheque from Mr. Gopal Verma, the Financial Controller of Seven Up Bottling Company PLC (SBC), Okoye said: "I will use part of the money to improve my business and save the remainder."
Mr. Okoye bought a bottle of Mirinda to quench his thirst, but that simple act has seen him going home with N450,000, courtesy of finding the picture of Real Madrid star and England Captain, David Beckham, under the crown cork of his N25 Mirinda.
SBC kicked off the Pepsi Stars "Wanted" promo on October 4 to reward consumers nationwide for their loyalty to the companys various brands such as Pepsi, Mirinda and 7-Up.
The companys National Marketing Manager, Mr. Sidharttan Mane, said that local and international Pepsi brand ambassadors like David Beckham (Real Madrid & England); Roberto Carlos (Real Madrid & Brazil); Austin Jay Jay Okocha (Bolton Wanderers & Nigeria); Joseph Yobo (Everton & Nigeria) and Kanu Nwankwo (West Bromwich & Nigeria) were used as icons for the promo in order to bring them closer to their numerous fans in Nigeria.
The promo uses a simple mechanism of peel and win, with consumers looking out for pictures of any of the named Pepsi stars under crown corks. Any of the stars found under a crown cork fetches the consumer N450,000 while other winnings can be redeemed at any Seven Up plant nationwide. An estimated N95 million instant cash reward would be won in the promo as well as N175 million worth of consolation prizes.
The Pepsi Stars "Wanted"promo ends on December 18.
