Broad Bank Gets NEPA Account In recongnition of its excellent service delivery, Broad Bank of Nigeria Limited has been appointed National Electronic Petroleum Authority (NEPA) to collect revenue from its customers in the Island District. The bank has since September l, 2004 resumed the collection of the NEPA revenue. This appointment comes on the heel of profit before tax (PBT) of N743.95 million declared by bank in its financial year ended April 30, 2004, an increase of 351 per cent, over the N165.08 million recorded in 2003. According to a statement by the bank, the NEPA's appointment empowers the bank to collect bills in Lagos Island district, comprising of Lagos Island, Lekki, Broad Street and Ikoyi. The Managing Director/Chief Executive of the Bank, Mr. Austen Obigwe, while reacting to the appointment said that the mandate represents a mark of confidence of the market in Broad Bank as a strong and capable financial institution. "The NEPA appointment has added to the growing list of mandates that Broad Bank had secured from various public sectors agencies and organizations to collect revenues on their behalf", Obigwe said. It would be recalled that Broad Bank was appointed by NEPA in May 2004 to collect NEPA bills in Abuja district, covering the whole of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) area including the suburbs of Mararaba up to Masaka in Nassarawa State. Also, the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) recently appointed Broad Bank as a settlement bank for capital market transactions.
