INABILITY of general hospitals in Zamfara state to
effectively function and provide adequate medical services to patients has
been attributed to the current proliferation of illegal clinics and quack
doctors across the state.
Lamenting the situation while addressing newsmen in Gusau,
chairman of Zamfara Patriotic Alliance (ZPA), Barrister Garba Gajam
condemned Governor Ahmad Sani's administration for its lack of concern.
He noted that many people have already lost their lives
as a result of the activities of these quack doctors and their illegal
outfits.
"All the general hospitals created by this administration
are not different from dispensaries and as a result of this, quack doctors
have invaded Zamfara state operating people who ultimately die.''
According to Barrister Gajam who is a former
attorney-general and commissioner for justice during Col. J.B. Yakubu
administration in the state, he is already dusting off his law books to
arraign Zamfara state government to court for being non-Shari'a compliant.
"Any serious government that has spent five years most
have something to show but this administration, despite the millions it
received from the federal government, is only good in dividing the people of
the state and if you are not an ANPP member you are regarded as an
infidel,'' he said.
Barrister Gajam also took a swipe on Governor Ahmad
Sani's educational policy in the state describing it as a move to kill the
education sector.
"It is immoral for a governor to own a private school
comfortably furnished when the education sector of government is dead, some
students cannot sit for exam because of lack of money and classes are in
shambles, while the state College of Education and other higher institutions
have collapsed,'' he explained.
The forum also challenged Governor Sani to show even a
30km road that he constructed that linked two villages.
Still taking Governor Sani to the cleaners, Barrister
Gajam who was in company of other top notchers of ZPA, condemned the
divisive attitude of the Yarima administration whereby ANPP supporters are
provided with cars and others denied, describing it as the "greatest
injustice,'' repeating his threat to go to court and seek declaration that
Zamfara government is not Shari'a compliant.
ZPA similarly recalled, when Governor Sani promised to
establish a Islamic university at Yandogon Daji in Tsafe local government
"but uptill now nothing has happened, he said.
They observed that if 40 per cent of what was spent on
ZAPA can be given to education, it would have helped in rescuing the
dwindling fortunes of education in the state.
They similarly reminded him that a as a self proclaimed Shari'a governor,
the first task is to jealously guard public funds towards judicious use.
