THE need has been stressed for the people of Bagwai local
government area in Kano state to support the present administration�s
policies and programmes toward promoting their well-being the call was made
by the council�s chairman, Alhaji Yusif Ahmad Badau while receiving the
recently concluded polio immunization exercise report in his office,
Wednesday.
The chairman, who was represented by the primary Health
care co-ordinator, Alhaji Sani Muhammad Ibrahim, said more than 32,155
children were immunized against the killer diseases.
He also commended the state and all non-governmental
bodies for supporting the progrmame with a view to achieving the desired
objective.
Badau, also maintained that drugs worth N500,000 were
purchased by the council for onward distribution to Bagwai health centre.
The chairman added that, the primary health care
coordinator, Alhaji Sani Muhammad Ibrahim had been directed to urgently
forward a submission for the procurement of essential drugs for the health
centers, clinics and dispensaries, in the area in an efforts to alleviate
the suffering of the common man.
He then advised the health personnel to discharge their
duties effectively and make judicious use of the drugs given to them.
On their parts, the central facilitator of the programme,
Alhaji Kabiru Abubakar and the state technical facilitator, Alhaji Auwalu
Ibrahim commended the state and the local government for ensuring a hitch
free exercise, by providing all necessary and adequately logistics.
They also thanked, the district head of Bagwai, Dan
Madamin Kano, Alhaji Nura Ahmad, the village and ward heads for their
support to the programme.
Meanwhile, the local government council has purchased 50
bags of rice and distributed to the staff free of charge in an effort to
alleviate the hardship they face during the Ramadan period.
This was disclosed by the council chairman Alhaji Yusuf
Ahmad Badau, while inspecting the distribution of the commodity at the local
government secretariat.
He then called on the staff to consider the gesture, and
reciprocate by working harder.
On his part, the director personnel management, Alhaji
Ibrahim Baba Gaya, thanked the council for the good gesture and urged the
staff to redouble efforts in the discharge of their duties.
Speaking, on behalf of the staff, the chairman, Nigerian
Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in the area, Comrade Muntaka
Sani Bichi, commended the local government council for the support and
cooperation given to the staff especially in this Ramadan period.
He explained that more than junior staff including casual
staff benefited from the allocation of the commodity.
Comrade Muntaka therefore, enjoined the staff to work hard for the
overall development of the local government in particular and the state as a
whole.
