Mu'azu Laments Dearth of Devt in Bauchi

Bauchi State Governor, Alhaji Adamu Mu'azu, said his administration came on board with the sole aim of reverting the unfortunate dearth of development in the state.
Mu'azu, who spoke in Bauchi yesterday, lamented that the effort of the preceding regimes, aimed at bringing government closer to the people, had not been matched by real development as majority of the people of the state still live in abject poverty, lacking the basic essentials of life for meaningful existence.
While reiterating the need for Nigeria's leaders to be more alive to their responsibilities of harnessing the nation's resources for the benefit of all Nigerians, he restated the determination of his administration to the provision of the dividends of democracy to all the communities across the state.
According to him, "we have a responsibility to the people and to God the Almighty, to ensure that we use the God- sent resources of the country for the benefit of our people, and our purpose as a government is to revert the unfortunate dearth of development of our state so as to show Bauchi State to the world, as the shining example of state creation."
While highlighting the achievements of his administration since 1999, the governor disclosed that six General Hospitals have been renovated, equipped and supplied with drugs.
He added that the intention of government was to have a General Hospital in all the 20 local governments in the next few months, explaining that an automatic employment policy for doctors and pharmacists of the state origin and continue to employ any qualified doctor even from abroad.
On poverty alleviation programme, he said that youths are being trained in different skills acquisition programme with varying loans to start their own, explaining that so far, over 10,000 youth have benefited and another set of 30,000 will benefit this year.
