'Gombe Needs N300m to Complete Manto Project' From Saka Ibrahim in Gombe Gombe State government needs over N300 million to complete Manto Processing Company. The state Commissioner for Commerce and Ind-ustry, Mr. Eduk Labatek, in an interview with THISDAY yesterday, said the state government is looking for investors that would take over the company. According to him, the past Abubakar Hashidu administration deceived the people of the state that the project had been completed and commissioned it twice. Said Labatek: "The previous administration decei-ved the people of Gombe State. This company was commissioned twice in 2000 and 2002, yet the company is not functional. How can you commission a company that did not function?" The commisioner expla-ined that the state government was not buoyant enough to cough out the money needed for the completion of the project and had to rely on investors to come in. He disclosed that some businessmen from Italy and France had visited the company, but government wants indigenes of the state to also show interest. Besides, Labatek belie-ved the company would create a lot of employment opportunities for indigenes of both Gombe and Bauchi states when completed.
