Edo Holds Seminar for Public Officers' Spouses From Omon-Julius Onabu in Benin-City A one day seminar on Etiquette, Protocol and Security has been held in Benin-city for wives of elected and appointed public officers in Edo State. Governor Lucky Igbine-dion while declaring open the event organised by his wife, Mrs Eki Igbinedion, noted that it behoves on the spouses of these officers to pay special attention to security matters simply because their status has made them visible personalities at public and political gatherings. "There was no gain saying the fact that their individual and collective conduct generally influence the positive or negative image of government Igbinedion noted, saying in all engagements, they ought to be conscious of security and the rules guiding dignified comportment. If their conduct is to advance the peaceful orderly progress of government business of mid-wifing equitable development, wives of elected or appointed officers must be fully aware of the complexity of etiquettes and protocols demanded in governmental activities. Earlier, Mrs Igbinedion stressed the importance of the complementary role of the women towards ensuring consistent peace in the state, noting that meaningful development is only possible in an atmosphere of peace and order. She said she was grateful to the governor for being "gender sensitive" and expressed the hope that the participants would greatly benefit from what the carefully assembled resource persons would dish out to them.
