Funtopia to Celebrate Halloween Day By Justice Ilevbare Funtopia, a new family centre located in Lekki, Lagos, has expressed its readiness to celebrate Halloween on Sunday, Octo-ber 31. Mrs. Isioma Aihie, Chief Executive Officer of Tamida Limited gave the indication in a release signed by Evelyn Ekwueme, and made available to THISDAY. Halloween is an annual event that has its origin in the Catholic Church thousands of years ago. The day which Aihe pointed out was called All Saints Day or Halloween in honour of the dead, "later became known as Hallow Even, All Hallow's Eve. According to Aihie, "We have been encouraged to create better ways to celebrate other special days. Already we have plans lined up to celebrate this years Halloween." She added: "Funtopia Halloween weekend will be slightly different from what you have abroad, that is, with a Nigerian flavour to spice it up. We have lined up special fancy dress part for kids and the winner with the most creative costume goes home with a motor ride scooter." "I wish to recreate the fun that is the tradition about this time abroad but with more emphasis on 'fun' and not evil. So lovers of Halloween do not have to leave the shores of Nigeria to have a feel of this age long celebration. Speaking further, Tamida's CEO said Funtopia's novel Halloween celebrations will be packed with contests such as treasure hunts count the ghost laser games and lots more, adding that whatever the age, funtopia has something for everyone at a reduced ticket of N750.
