Last Updated: Saturday, October 23rd, 2004 HOME | Previous Page Delta SSG alleges plot to sack him Secretary to the Government of Delta state, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, has alleged a gang-up by some politicians in the state to frustrate him out of office. The group of politicians, he disclosed, commenced the plot a few months after he assumed office last year, employing pranks, blackmail and outright harassment to frustrate him. According to him, his “offence” was the discipline he tried to instill in the fiscal administration of the state. Uduaghan made the allegations during an interactive session with journalists on Thursday in Asaba, to herald activities marking his 50th birthday. “I served as commissioner for four years. So when God made me SSG, I tried to change a few things. No more “business as usual,’’ he explained. He, however, said that his full knowledge of the system and the politicians helped him in surmounting the problem. In addition, he said he got tremendous support from Gov. James Ibori, who through his actions, demonstrated that his choice of SSG was not a mistake. The government scribe said that state was on course in the execution of people-orianted programmes in spite of obvious distractions from certain quarters. On his life, Uduaghan said his 50 years on earth has been eventful and fulfilling, especially with his contribution to humanity and development of the state. He, however, said he would not wish to live for another 50 years, noting that he was sure that the toils of younger years would take its toll on his health before the century mark.   Copyright� 2004.
