Group wants hearing on Kaduna mass burial From Sani Babadoko, in Kaduna A Kaduna-based Pan-African Leadership League has called on the panel set up by Governor Ahmed Makarfi to investigate the shocking discovery last week of 19 bodies buried by the police in Kaduna to hold its sitting in public. In a statement in Kaduna at the weekend PALL Executive director, Mr Stephen Achi commended the setting of the committee and urged the government to initiate comprehensive peace reforms to check the perennial violence in Kaduna. “PALL will like to advise that this important committee to hold public sittings and allow the media to cover it live, lawyers should be allowed to represent all the parties in the disturbances. “The media will give factual, accurate and on the spot coverage of proceedings, witnesses should be protected and lawyers be allowed to represent aggrieved family members and relations. “The committee must not be allowed to sit in camera as was the case in the past. If the public is allowed to follow the proceedings it will serve us a deterrent to others who may wish the commit similar acts.” PALL also commends the economic policies of the state government which initiate such welfare polices as the provision of agricultural implements and inputs as well as motorcycles to civil servants. The league also appealed to the people of Kaduna State to live in peace and commended Governor Maka-rfi’s effort in that direction.   TO NEXT NEWS PAGE...
