Kudos to a principal of distinction

When the federal government Girls College, Bajoga came into being, the challenges of nurturing the college to an acceptable standard were very high. Expectations from parents and guardians as to the academic performance of their children, was more of a sword of Damocles on the school’s head.
As the responsibility of the college was handed over to Hajiya Ai’shatu Jibir Dukku to become the pioneer principal, so many skeptics didn’t give her a chance. But she set forth with a mission in mind within the spectrum of her objective parameters.
The tasks ahead at the time were very Herculean and astringent. Heading a girls’ college by a woman with an almost male staff popula-tion, needed a lot of courage, determination, diligence, astuteness and hard work.
And as the years ticked by, one can said it proudly that from 1999 when the college was established to date, this woman has really given a good account of herself. As an able admini-strator, she has succeeded in warming into the hearts of her staff with her style of open door policy and also encoura-ging teamwork. The students have continued to excel academically; to the delight of parents and guardians.
Within these years, the staff of this great college can all concur with me that this woman has continued to implement federal govern-ment policies and directives to the admiration of her staff. These include the 12.5% welfare package and the monetization policy intro-duced recently by the Federal Government, which they all enjoy. The staff and students welfare has continued to be her main focal point. And this she has continued to pursue vigorously.
I will also aver, that the high degree of disciple in this college again is a thing of joy to all of us.
As the academic staff recognise in this great woman a quest to take the school to an enviable posi-tion, they on their part have geared up with determina-tion, respect and courage in the collective task to ensure that the students. excel. academically. The students have reciprocated positively and continue to win for the school, laurels in various competitions, more especially in quiz and debating competitions. The school has stood apart and again a force to be reckoned with in various inter collegiate sporting events, all courtesy of this great woman.
Mention must however be made of Mr. Ama Ochu the vice principal. He has also continued to countenance and with dexterity, all the set goals and objectives of the school. I see in him a loyal deputy and a very hard working and higly principled person, who believes in discipline and high academic performance of the entire students. The academic and non-academic staff should also be proud to have these great people at the helm of affairs of the Federal Government Girls’ College, Bajoga.
The present/teachers association has continued to enjoy a very cordial relation-ship and the kind co-operation given by this great woman, cannot be over emphasized. In this regard, thanks should also go to the chairman of the parents teachers association, Alhaji Mai Gana Lamido.
Her industriousness has become a hallmark that ought to earn her a place in the country’s hall of fame of distinguished administrators and academicians. This attestation could further be said, with the recent arrival of inspectors from the Federal Ministry of Education. With what they have seen so far, they did not need to be told much, as they fully endorsed the immediate accreditation of the school.
It is yet another feather on the scarf of Hajiya Aishatu, as most of the unity schools that took off almost the same time, are yet to even sit for their Senior WAEC or be accredited.
It is a thing of joy to state here that out of one hundred and forty two (142) students that sat for their examination, 82.2 percent passed, with yet another eight students scoring A marks.
In acknowledging her performance, the Gombe state Commissioner of Education Alhaji (Dr.) Labilwa Ahmadu Madugu in one of his recent visits to the school pledged the installation of a transformer to boost electricity supply to the school. This we all see as very rewarding and deserving move, all in recognition of her selfless service to her school, the state and the country at large.
