Last Updated: Monday, October 25th, 2004 HOME | Previous Page Why PDP expelled Olowoporoku, by Ekiti chairman By David Atalese Special Correspondent, Ado-Ekiti   The Chairman of the Ekiti-State wing of the People�s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Ropo Adesanya has said that the expulsion of Senator Bode Olowoporoku from the party was to instill discipline in the party. Olowoporoku, who represents Ekiti South Senatorial District, was expelled from the party by its national working committee in Abuja last week Reacting to the expulsion in Ise-Ekiti, Adesanya said it was wrong for Olowoporoku to have fielded his wife for the post of the Ekiti South West local government chairman on the platform of the All Nigeria People Party (ANPP) last March. He told reporters that the senator testified against his partys(PDP) in favour of his wife who lost the elect ion, for six hours at the Election Petition Tribunal last June in Ado-Ekiti. Adesanya alleged that the embattled Olowoporoku insulted President Olusegun Obasanjo and the party chairman, Mr. Audu Ogbeh, when he gave evidence before the party�s disciplinary committee in Abuja. Also commenting on the matter, a member of board of trustee of the party, Chief Dayo Okonelo, said the party�s national working committee had ratified Olowoporoku�s expulsion. But a supporter of Olowoporoku, Mr. Sikiru Babalola said �the battle line has been drawn between the party and Olowoporoku and the PDP is finished in Ekiti state. Please just wait and see�.
