Disturbed by the influx of illegal
immigrants and cross boarder bandits, which constitute a public nuisance, the
Bauchi State Governor Ahmadu Adamu Mu’azu, has charged the immigration
department to wake up to their responsibilities of safeguarding the borders.
Mu’azu gave this charge when the
Assistant Comptroller General Zone C, Dr. B. A. Brown paid him a courtesy call
at the Government House.
He said the immigration department has an
important assignment before it in ensuring the safety of the nation’s
boarders from illegal alliens.
The governor noted that although his state
does not share boarder with any country, the need to safeguard the boarders
could not be over-emphasised.
While appreciating the effort of the
officers of the immigration in regulating the entrance of foreigners in the
country, Mu’azu urged them not to relent in their effort in ensuring that
only those with genuine documents are allowed entrance to the country.
In appreciation of their effort,
Mu’azu donated a 18 seater bus to them to enable them perform their
duties. He assured them of the determination of his administration to assist
them in discharging their responsibilities.
The assistant comptroller general of
immigration praised the effort of the governor in transforming the state,
noting that Bauchi under Mu’azu has witnessed great transformation and
has impacted positively to the people. Brown said the provision of electricity
especially in the rural areas would help in booasting the establishment of
small scale industries in the state as well provision of small business. He
added that beside, the security in the state has attracted new investors. This,
Brown said would help to develop the state industrially. The assistant
comptroller noted that the visit of former heads of state was a reflection of
Muazu charismatic and unbeatable performance.
He requested for allocation of land to
build office, houses and staff quarters for officers and men. He appealed to
the governor to consider immigration officers and men in the state allocation
of seat to religious pilgrimages.
