Barka da strike
SIR: The above-titled piece by Dr. Reuben Abati caught my attention. As he was going to end the write-up, he refused to proffer another option that may be adopted to protest future hike in prices of petroleum products or any obnoxious policy of the government.
To a reasonable extent, strike remains the only visible reaction towards bad government policies. But the idea is fastly eroding. It is even saddening that Oshiomhole can fall into the trap of Obasanjo by agreeing to serve in the yeye committee.
Can Obasanjo tell the whole world how many committees he has set up in the past and how many of these committees' recommendations he has partly or totally implemented. Is it Kolade Panel, Oputa Panel or the Committee on Petroleum Products Deregulation?
However, I have an idea; if we will all bury our sentiments and take up the Nigerian identity. Let us all go solemnly before the Omnipresent, Omniscience and the Omnipotent God. Let us all fast for three days, possibly on a particular Friday to Sunday of a particular week. And on each of these days by 6.00 p.m - 6.05 p.m., let us look up unto heaven wherever we may find ourselves and tell God to deliver us from Obasanjo and his cronies.
General Gowon's Nigeria Prays can pick up this idea for proper coordination.
