Ataba Crisis: Faction May Boycott Panel Sitting From Okon Bassey in Port Harcourt A faction of the Ataba Community in Andoni Local Government area of Rivers State, has threatened to ignore the Judicial Commission of Inquiry set up by the government into the recent disturbances in the community where many people lost their lives and properties worth millions of naira destroyed. The grouse of their grievances to boycott the commission is as a result of the continued detention of their leaders by the police while the second faction has been released. In a strong worded petition to the chairman of the panel, the people explained that the prominent leaders of the Benson Magbowaji Egwene led faction in the Ataba Chieftaincy dispute are all languishing in prison custody. You commission's job cannot be complete without their effective participation during the commission's hearing"; the protest letter dated Augus26, and signed by Chief U. J. H.
