Notorious Robber Arrested in Gombe A notorious armed robber who has been terrorising Gombe State for several years, Mallam Abdulmumini Mohammed, has been arrested by the police. Mohammed, about 56 years old, was arrested at his residence in Gombe on Saturday morning, following a tip-off. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mr Ambrose Aisabor, told newsmen that the robber was initially arrested in 1997, by men of Operation Aradu, and was about to be executed when he was released. According to Aisabor, items recovered from the robber include four locally made pistols, 11 Baretta pistols, one dane gun, five knives, one axe and charms among other things. Aisabor said, "he has made useful statement to us and very soon, more arrest would be made." He advised the public to endeavour to give useful information that would lead to the arrest of criminals in their midst. Besides, he said a police corporal with Divisional Police Office, Deba, Shehu Danbabia, who was declared wanted three months ago for giving arms to armed robbers has been arrested at a village near Shani, in Biu Local Government area of Borno State.
