Citizens Bank set to meet N25bn target, lifts staff

CITIZENS
International Bank Limited has finalised modalities to meet the statutory N25
billion minimum capital base even as it is repositioning for sustained growth
and better performance.
Determined to reposition the bank for
future challenges in the industry, the board decided to adequately reward its
staff through promotions and commendations.
According to the Head, Corporate affairs
of the bank, Mr. Tony Ndiulor, eight senior officers were recently rewarded with
top management positions as part of its growth strategy.
He explained that the promotions which
took effect from August 1, this year was in keeping with its policy of
motivating its workforce as a way of encouraging them to give the best to the
customers.
The breakdown shows that one staff was
promoted from Assistant General Manager (AGM) grade to Deputy General Manager, (DGM)
four senior managers were elevated to AGMs whilst two Managers went up to senior
manger and one Deputy Manager to Manager.
Those promoted were Chidi Ngoka who moved
from the post of AGM to DGM, he holds an MBA/IESE, from the Lagos Business
School, B.Sc. Business Administration from University of Benin. She has also
attended numerous banking courses both locally and internationally.
Mrs. Ngoka started her banking career in
1989 with the Nigerian American Merchant Bank as an Executive Trainee and Credit
Analyst with an expanded focus on Equipment leasing, Export Credit-Financing and
Debenture Stock Transactions. In 1990, she joined Citizens Bank as a Senior
Banking Officer. Since then, she has risen steadily.
Mr. Joshua Ikioda was promoted from Senior
Manager to AGM. He is the Regional Manager, Lagos Central Region. He worked with
SS Afemikhe and Co., as an Audit Semi-Senior between January 1989 and March
1990. Thereafter, he joined Citizens Bank as a pioneer staff in April, 1990 and
was deployed to Operations Group, where he worked in all operations units of the
Bank.
In July, 1999, Joshua was deployed to
Onitsha branch, where he worked as one of the pioneer Operations Officers of the
then new branch. In 1994, he was redeployed to Head Office (Operations) and was
transferred to Apapa Branch Operations in May 1995. He was subsequently made the
Branch Manager in 1996.
Joshua holds a B.Sc degree in
Economics/Statistics from the University of Benin in 1988. He also obtained MBA
(Marketing) in 1999 from University of Lagos and qualified as a Chartered
Accountant in May 1994. He is an alumnus of the prestigious Lagos Business
School.
Mr. Charles Okoro was promoted AGM from
Senior Manager grade. He is presently the Regional Manager, South East. He
started his banking career with Chartered Bank as Analyst in 1990 and rose to
become Head, Credit & Marketing in the Oke-Arin branch. From there he joined
Citizens Bank in 1993 and was deployed to Broad Street Branch of the bank as
Marketing officer. He was later transferred to the indigenous Enterprises Unit
of Consumer and Retail Banking Group in March 1996.
He has a B.Sc Economics from the
University of Benin obtained in 1988. He passed out with second-class upper
division. He also has an MBA from University of Lagos obtained in 1999. In
addition he is a chartered accountant. He is married and has children.
Mr Charles Ikpa who was promoted to AGM
from Senior Manager holds BSc degree in Management and an MBA in Finance both
from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
He had worked in Cowrie Credit Limited,
Century Merchant Bank Limited, Oceanic Bank International Limited and Multimix
Investment Company Limited. He has wide experience covering Financial
Intermediation, Export Services, Corporate and Branch Banking.
Since joining Citizens Bank in December
1995, he has headed the Export Unit, pioneered Calabar Branch, and managed Kano
Branch, and anchored the Northern Region of the bank. He is presently the
Regional Manager- South/South. Charles has attended various Credit, Marketing,
Management and Leadership courses.
Mr. Nduisi Osakwe, who is the treasurer
was promoted to AGM from Senior Manager. His banking career spanning over 10
years had seen him through local, foreign treasury operations and treasury
marketing. He had his training in Commercial Banking (Credit Lyonnais) Nigeria
Ltd (now Capital Bank) where he progressively passed through all the grades from
Supervisor to Officer in six and half years. In 1998, he joined NAL Bank as
assistant Manager-Treasury. He was Head, Treasury Marketing and later Deputy
Manager, Treasury with responsibility on currency trading, ALM, Treasury
Management.
He joined Metropolitan Bank in January 2001 as Manager
Treasury and Treasurer, a position he held till he crossed over to Citizens
International Bank Ltd in September, 2001 as Treasurer and Group Head, Treasury.
He holds an MBA from ESUT Business School.
