Lagos Ferry (Jubilee Lagos)
SIR: I wish to draw the attention of the Lagos State government to her obsolete ferry called Jubilee Lagos that plies CMS to Apapa. This ferry, to me, has become a hazard to passengers especially those that cannot swim.
The ferry is rusty, whenever it rains it would seem as if you are in the rain. This is a ferry that makes nothing less than N60,000 daily (by my own calculation) since it makes not fewer than six trips a day.
I hereby appeal to the Lagos State government to emulate the work done by Texas Connections, they run ferries that ply Sand-fill, Tin Can and Mile 2. We should not wait till, life and property worth billions are destroyed in transit before a remedy is provided.
Despite the fact that most people do not recognise its (ferry) existence, it still serves as a major and faster means of transportation for those that use it. Moreover, it helps reduce the traffic situation on the Island. These ferries accommodate up to 50 passengers in a trip. I therefore urge the Lagos State government to look into this matter to enable them prevent a looming disaster.
Tunde Busari,
