Odili Orders 24-hr Security Patrol in Rivers From Donald Andoor in Port Harcourt Rivers State Governor, Dr. Peter Odili has directed security agencies in the state to immediately embark on a 24-hour security patrol in order to check the bloody activities of bandits and cultists. Odili, in a radio and television broadcast on after a security meeting with the heads of the security agencies, announced the immediate re-organisation of the security forces, their operations and posting of personnel. He said "the 12-hour security patrol put in place has not adequately addressed the issue. We have therefore directed forethwith that the security force should provide patrol operations on a 24-hour basis and its capacity increased and extended to all parts of the metropolis. "Security patrol shall also be intensified in all waterfronts of the state. Marine patrol men have also being placed in intensive patrol of the water ways henceforth." He continued, "I have no doubt in my mind that now that we have directed the security forces to take the needed proactive action and leave no stone unturned in theur task, we would once and for all put and end unsavoury period of our affairs which is threatening to mar our efforts in building a just society. "I must place it on record that prior to this time, the security operatives had on our directive given due consideration to our desire of not unduely disturbing the peace of our communities during previous searches for these hoodlums.
