Deputy Gov Seeks Rulers' Support on Security From Omon-Julius Onabu in Benin-City As security agents in Edo State continue to be on red alert in the wake of the upsurge in violent crimes, the state Deputy Governor, Chief Mike Oghiadomhe, has asked for the full co-operation of traditional rulers with law enforcement agents to arrest the disturbing situation. Elsewhere, Christians in the country have been reminded of the overriding responsibility of being their brothers' keeper as well as helping to raise moral standards and civilised behaviour through their personal spiritual elevation. Ogiadomhe, who made the appeal at the commissioning of a Police Post at Fugar, headquarters of Etsako Central Local Government area of the state, charged vigilance groups to rise up to the security challenge by furnishing the police with relevant information on security situation in their respective localities. The facility was donated by Sir Peter Aliu, a retired public servant now with the Presidency, who said the gesture was his personal contribution to community development and urged the people of Fugar to forge a cordial relationship with the police always. "Law enforcement agents could successfully stem the tide of criminal activities if traditional rulers, vigilance groups and law abiding citizens are meticulous in monitoring the situation in their own domain and promptly report all suspicious movements to the police for necessary action," the deputy governor counseled.
