AD Crisis: 'Afenifere Holds the Ace' From Hammed Shittu in Osogbo Factional National Chairman of Alliance for Democracy (AD), Senator Mojisoluwa Akinfenwa yesterday declared that he would not be party to any resolution that would fault the decision of Afenifere that recognised him as the authentic national chairman of the party. Akinfenwa who disclosed this in Osogbo while speaking on the personality interview programme of the Correspondent Chapel of Osun NUJ stated that the development would not move the party forward. Afenifere had in a meeting held two weeks ago aduced the candidature of Akinfenwa at Akure but was rejected by Chief Bisi Akande, his co-contestant to the position. Another meeting of the Afenifere is also billed for today at Ijebu-Igbo on the matter. But Akifnenwa stated that "we were all agreed to hold the convention of the party at Abuja, even paid a sum of N750,000 for Eagle Square as venue of the programme before another announcement a week before the approved one." he stated that "what Akande was doing is to use his connection to circumventing the truth instead of aligning with the approved national convention of the AD." The former AD Senate leader added that "Prior to Afenifere meeting at Akure, Chief Akande had agreed to accept any decision taking over the matter by Afenifere and even he was a party to the meeting held on August 17, 2004."
