ISCAN to Maintain High Standard By Ndubuisi Ugah The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ISCAN) has said despite moves for it to administer its examinations locally, it, however, maintained that such moves will not deter it from maintaining high academic standard. Disclosing this during the fourth induction for new members in Lagos, the President of ISCAN, Mr. Olusoji Majekodunmi, said the fees charged for the programme due to its international status has made it rather exorbitant for prospective students. Majekodunmi explained that despite obstacles faced by students in sitting for the examination occasioned by high fees charged, efforts were also being made by the organisation to cushion the harsh effect through alternative measures soon to be outlined. According to him, "we are going to start to administer the exam locally. We shall then be able to charge in Naira at parity levels with other professional bodies". Majekodunmi added that the high standard maintained by the institute would not be affected by the time the examinations kick off, since the examinations would be of the same standard. On the impression held by Nigerians that the organisation's practitioners could be likened as front-desk secretaries or typists, the ISCAN President refuted such, saying the organisation's practitioners fell in the same category with other professionals such as lawyers, accountants, bankers among others.
