2007: Igbo Leaders Set Committee For Presidency From Christopher Isiguzo in Owerri Notable politicians from the South-east, under the aegis of South-east Caucus have reaffirmed their resolve to have a Nigerian President of Igbo extraction by 2007 with the setting up of a five-man committee to tinker the project. Membership of the Igbo Presidency Project Committee was drawn from the five States of Abia, Imo, Ebonyi, Enugu and Anambra States that make up the zone. The decision was taken at the 11th South-east caucus held at the Aguiyi Conference Centre on Friday in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, with top Igbo politicians in attendance. Those who attended the meeting included Governors Sam Egwu of Ebonyi, Achike Udenwa of Imo and the host Dr. Orji Kalu of Abia, former Vice President, Alex Ekwu-eme, former Senate Presidents Evan Enwerem and Anyim Pius Anyim, Senate President Adolphus Wabara, Chief Rochas Okorocha and Ojo Maduekwe. Others were Senators and members of the House of Representatives, Speakers of the five state Houses of Assembly, Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr Okechukwu Nwankwo.
