Agwai Opens Peace-Keeping Wing From Agaju Madugba in Kaduna Chief of Army Staff, Lt - Gen Martin Luther Agwai, would tomorrow commission the newly established peace-keeping wing of the Infantry Centre and School at Jaji. In a press statement signed by the school's Army Public Relations Officer, S. M. Uba, explained that the wing was envisaged to train troops earmarked for foreign operations, under the auspices of the United Nations, African Union and the Economic community of West African States (ECOWAS). According to the statement, "Nigeria has participated in more than 25 peace support operations over the past 40 years. The Nigerian Army has always been the major contributor to these operations by the Armed forces. "The establishment of the peacekeeping wing therefore an important milestone in the history of the Nigeria Army in general and the Infantry Centre and School in particular."
