Group Okays Islamic Varsity for Bauchi From Segun Awofadeji in Bauchi The highest decision-making body of the national headquarters of the Izala sect, a Muslim organisation founded by Sheikh Ismaila Idris has approved the establishment of an Islamic University and the school of Nursing and Midwifery in the Bauchi, Bauchi State. The National Chairman, Council of Ulamas of the Izala, Sheikh Muhammad Sani Yahaya-Jingir, disclosed this while addressing newsmen in Bauchi on the four-day tour of the state. Yahaya-Jingir pointed out that the decision to establish the institutions was taken by the Supreme Council of the body so as to complement government's efforts in boosting the health and educational sub-sectors of the nation's economy. Commenting on the four-day tour to the state, the national chairman revealed that during the visit, he saw and assessed the performance of the various branches of the Izala in the 20 local government areas of the state. He pointed out that the state Governor, Dr. Ahmadu Adamu Mu'azu, deserved special commendation for putting in place viable development programmes and policies aimed at improving the welfare of the rural and urban populace, praising the local government council chairmen in the state, Emirs and district heads as well as the entire people of the state for the rousing welcome accorded to him and his team. According to him, "what we saw in the State everywhere we went to was a clear indication that the Sharia Legal System has properly been established", adding that the State House of Assembly too should be commended for churning out bills and resolutions that are people-oriented in the State. While also commending the good relationship existing between the Executive and in the Legislative in the State, he called on the Muslim community to continue to live peacefully and harmoniously with followers of other religion for the stability and development of the State and the country at large. He stressed that peace and stability were the major ingredients of growth and development of any nation, and therefore solicited the support and understanding of all and sundry for the sustenance of the nation's democracy.
