Tinubu, Soyinka Want Kudirat, Others Immortalised By Tokunbo Adedoja Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka were among eminent Nigerians who wondered at the public presentation of a book on Late Kudirat Abiola, wife of the acclaimed winner of June 12, 1993 presidential election, why the present government has not deemed it fit to honour the heroes and heroines of democracy. Speaking at an event organised by the Kudirat Initiative for Democracy (KIND) for the public presentation of a book titled Kudirat: "Steps in Time," Tinubu, who was represented by his deputy, Mr. Femi Pedro, called for the immortalisation of Kudirat for her role in the strugle for democracy. He said on the part of the state government, it has renamed Evans square and Oregun road after her, adding that Lagos would continue to do everything to ensure that her sacrifice for democracy was not in vain. The governor noted that the irony however is that many of those who dined with the Late General Sani Abacha while Kudirat and other pro-democracy activists and groups were engaged in fierce struggle against dictatorship, are the beneficiaries of the struggle.
