Council Boss Charges Bauchi on Housing From Segun Awofadeji in Bauchi Bauchi State government has been called upon to extend its Housing Loan Scheme to local government workers in the state for them to own houses in their respective areas as well as ensure that they retire to a "peaceful and comfortable life after serving their fatherland." The Chairman of the Bogoro Local Government council, Mr. Elisha Tula Gwamis, who made the call when he received the state executive members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) who paid him a courtesy call in his office, added that the gesture would assist greatly in providing accommodation to local government workers. He observed that if this is considered, it would help the workers to build their own houses instead of living in rented quarters or roaming the street and become nuisance to the society. The council boss appealed to trade unions in the local government areas in the state to always embrace dialogue in solving issues instead of engaging in confrontation and strikes in the interest of development. Gwamis commended the Local Government branch of the NLC for their cordial working relationship with his council, especially on issues relating to workers welfare, and assured the Labour of his council's continued support to their cause.
