NAFDAC Shuts Down Illegal HIV/AIDS Vaccine Plant, Others
IN pursuit of its goal of safeguarding public health and ensuring the consumption and use of regulated products, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has uncovered illegal HIV/AIDS vaccine, detergent and vegetable oil manufacturing outfits in Lagos.
According to a press statement by NAFDAC, signed by the Lagos Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mrs Christiana Obiazikwor, one of the illegal outfits is a health centre called Biodyn Miracle Health Centre located at No. 16, Unity Road, Agbado, Lagos, owned by one Maclonor Ebilikwe who claimed to be a 'Medical Doctor Minister of the Lord'.
Ebilikwe, according to the statement was manufacturing vaccines for the cure of HIV/AIDS. He claimed to administer medicine that can turn into vaccines in an individual.
When NAFDAC team stormed his illegal centre, samples of blood of his victims as well as the pictures and cards of patients were seen.
He claimed to have cured HIV/AIDS using directives from the Holy Spirit to prescribe drugs for the patients.
According to the statement, Ebilikwe was arrested by the agency's enforcement team, which also shut down his health centre. The team also found certificates, which he claimed to have acquired from so many countries of the world.
Similarly, NAFDAC's enforcement team sealed up the manufacturing outfit of one Mr. Solomon of No. 15, Adebanjo Street, Asa Estate Gbagada, where he is producing unregistered powder.
Another illegal manufacturing outfit where all kinds of disinfectants, soaps, shampoos and other range of products were secretly produced has also been shut down by NAFDAC. The manufacturing outfit owned by Mr. Rann Onyekaba is located at No 8 Ashogbon Street, Off Adeniyi Jones, Lagos.
In a related development, NAFDAC enforcement team stormed Ojo Garage, Oko Oba Market, on the Lagos Badagry Express Road, where they arrested some women who smuggled vegetable oil and repackaged them in an unhygienic condition.
The agency advised members of the public to mind the places they go for help when they are sick, and also to look out for NAFDAC's approved products which should always have the agency's registration and batch numbers, manufacturing and expiring dates boldly stamped on them.
