‘2007: The coast is clear for Igbo president’
By PETER ANOSIKE
Monday, September 13, 2004

Basking in the success recorded by the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) Thursday, the Congress for Igbo Agenda (CIA) has said that the coast is very clear come 2007 for the emergence of an Igbo president.

Speaking at the Patrons/Gala nite of the group last Friday at the Anambra Liason office, Ahmadu Bello Way, Victoria Island, Lagos, the president, Revd. Innocent Chukwudi Peace said that though his group is not advocating for Biafra, that the mass compliance of Ndigbo to MASSOB call to sit down at home showed that they are now ready to come together to advance their course.

He wondered what gave the North the impetus, after ruling the country for more than 35 years and handed over to the Yoruba for eight years, to want to take it back without regard to Ndigbo which is one of the three major ethnic groups in Nigeria.

Peace also said the major problem facing Ndigbo is disunity. His words: "Our problem is that we have not come together. Once we come together, the sky will be our limit. I am very happy that we have started to find our rhythm. What happened on Thursday is a case point. All we now need is a little push and we will be there."

According to him, equity demands that an Igbo man should be president come 2007.
He said that the North should allow equity to prevail instead of trying to take what is not theirs. "What goes round should be allowed to come round," he declared.
In his contribution, Sir Cosmas Ndulue (Ohamadike), a renowned film producer and marketer called on Ndigbo to support their sons and daughters who are doing well in their fields of human endeavour.
He also said that what Ndigbo needed most is unity. According to him, with unity, there is nothing they could not achieve.
