Idris decries quest for foreign account From Ahmed Tahir Ajobe, in Lokoja Kogi State governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, has condemned in strong terms, the craze by Nigerian leaders to acquire property in foreign countries. Alhaji Idris made the remarks when he received the special adviser to the President on Ethics, Good Governance and Human Rights, Chief Kanu Agabi, who called on the governor in Lokoja. Governor Idris who said he is an advocate of good governance, disclosed that he does not own any money or property abroad. He said it was callous for any leader to take his money outside the country, thereby enriching those nations at the expense of our country. He said that he runs an open and transparent admini-stration with due regards for checks and balances and the independence of the judiciary and the legislature. He said the state government has never tampered with local government funds, saying the records are there for anyone to check. The special adviser said the federal government will continue to prosecute the war against corruption which he said has been responsible for the country’s under-development. He appealed to leaders in the country who have money abroad to bring back sunch funds for the development of the country. He praised governor Idris for his commitment to good governance and decried reported cases of state governments who divert local government funds.   TO NEXT NEWS PAGE...
