...In Kano JGSG lawmakers abandon House As the Jigawa government embarked on crusade against increasing truancy among its workforce, the state�s House of Assembly was last week forced to adjourn its sitting for failing to form quorum. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that only two members were in attendance at the time the House was billed to open its business of the day. Speaker Mujittafa Mallam adjourned sitting after waiting for more than an hour with only one member, Iliyasu Yalwan Damai (ANPP- Birnin Kudu) in attendance. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the 30-member house, often had to suspend its sitting for failing to meet the required forum, since its inauguration in June 2003. The government recently had to resort to the use of religion to appeal to its workers to guard against truancy. The Speaker and other officials of the House declined to comment on the issue.
