Ige: Court Adjourns Ruling Indefinitely From Ademola Adeyemo in Ibadan Justice Atilade Ojo of the Oyo State High Court in Ibadan, yesterday adjourned sine die the judgement in the two count charge of conspiracy and murder of former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Chief Bola Ige, preferred against 11 accused persons. The accused persons are Adedamola Adedayo (Fryo), the prime suspect, Jelili Adesiyan, Kunle Alao, Alani Omisore, Lambe Oyasope, all political associates of Senator Iyiola Omisore. Other accused persons in the case are Ezekiel Daramola, Sergeant Oye-Oniyanda, Adebayo Ezekiel and Kareem Lawal, all personal aides to the late Ige. They were charged to court in 2002 for the murder of Ige, who died on December 23, 2001. However, last July, Oyo State Attorney-General, Mr. Lekan Latinwo, entered a nolle prosequi in respect of the four political associates of Omisore. They were subsequently discharged by the trial judge, while six others including Fryo went through the trial. The accused persons had during the trial called some witnesses who testified to buttress their defence. Yesterday, counsel to the accused persons delivered their final addresses where they claimed their clients were innocent of the charges preferred against them. Also, Mrs. Bunmi Ogunniran, who led the prosecution urged the court to convict the accused persons as charged saying that Fryo had confessed that he was employed by Omisore with N5 million to kill Ige, although this was denied by Fryo and Omisore. The late Ige's aides standing trial duty points said to have abandoned their duties shortly before the assassins arrived. Justice Ojo after listening to the motion for the adoption of the written addresses of the counsel, adjourned for the judgement indefinitely.
