KANO state government has reaffirmed its determination to
encourage any self-help group and individuals who initiate projects toward
the development of the people.
A statement signed by Ahmad Muhammad Gwarzo, information
officer of Bebeji local council said that the deputy director for community
and chairman, verification committee in the ministry of local governments
development, and community Alhaji Isma�ila Aliyu Dangora, made this
statement during an official visit for the verification the activities of
self-help groups, individuals and local government projects at Bebeji local
government area.
He stressed that self-help groups have an important role
to play towards for the progress of any society in the country.
Alhaji Ismaila Dangora stated that Kano state government
is over ready to support any type of project being executed by unions and
individuals and announced that every year a merit award would be awarded to
those who excelled.
He urged the self-help groups to embark on meaningful
projects for the benefit of their people.
On his part, the chairman of Bebeji local government,
Alhaji Dankaka Hussaini who was represented by a supervisory councilor,
Alhaji Sale Labaran Durmanawa, informed the committee that they copuncil had
set aside over one million Naira for the purchase of roofing sheets, nails
ply woods and bags of cement for distribution to self-help groups every
month in the area.
He stated that the council has already distributed pieces
of shroud and pots for clothing the dead.
Speaking earlier, the head of community and social
development department, Alhaji Muhammad Haruna Ajumawa said that his
department welcomed any development projects that will be initiated by
self-help groups in their respective localities.
Meanwhile, Bebeji local government assured the people of
the area of protection of their lives and property.
The council chairman, Alhaji Dankaka Hussaini made this
statement through the council�s secretary Alhaji Sadi Usman Gwamai while
receiving the Kano state executive committee of Miyetti Allah Cattle
Breeders Association in his office, last week.
He stated that Miyyati Allah Association has a role to
play in the building the nation as well as socio economy development.
Alhaji Gwarmai said that the council opened three
veterinary clinics at Kuki, Damau and Rahama and carved out cattle routes
and grave-yards.
In his speech, the Director Personnel Management of the
council, Dr. Garba Ahmad Kura enjoined them to get their wards enrolled into
schools and put eyes on them in order not to join bad company.
Speaking earlier the acting chairman, Kano state Miyetti
Allah cattle Breeder Association, Alhaji Uba Zaura had commended the effort
of Bebeji local government in assisting the association and called on other
local government areas to emulate it.
He enjoined members of the association to avoid taking laws into their
hands and to report any problem to the authorities near them. Zaura then
urged the local government and other people to suppor the association.
