Saraki pledges to focus on industrialisation
KWARA State Governor, Mr. Bukola Saraki, has said that the best gauge for performances by leaders under a democracy is the level of industrialisation.
In that mould, Saraki said his government would continue to push for agro-allied industries and small-scale farming to develop the state.
At the International Airport, Ilorin while returning from London after his two weeks leave on Monday, Saraki told journalists that a partnership had been reached between the state and an Italian processing company.
Farmers in the state, according to him would be fully mobilised on the need to plant more tomatoes to meetings the needs of the firms.
He said: "I am back, refreshed and fully charged to serve Kwarans better. Despite all challenges, my government is resolved to pursue its people-oriented programmes.
"Time is not our side, we have to move faster. Our people must see concrete democracy dividends before we begin to ask for their votes again. Specifically, the government will still focus on agriculture, agro-allied industry and improve small-scale farming to provide job in the rural areas," he said.
On the Italian firm, the governor said it would require commercial production of tomato and micro credit provided for willing entrepreneurs.
While reacting to the recent appointment of a new Deputy National Publicity Secretary for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Saraki said the action was in order.
