By Chinyere Amalu and Ndidi Onuorah
Wednesday, September 15, 2004

ABUJA— ABOUT two hundred and fifteen thousand (215,000) candidates are expected to sit for the 2004 Monotechnics,  Polytechnics and Colleges of Education Matriculation Examination (MPCE), scheduled to take place on Saturday, 18th  September 2004.

Addressing the newsmen on the conduct of the forthcoming examination, the Registrar/Chief Executive Professor Bello Salim  who was represented by the Director Computer Service, Alhaji Abdulrahim Adeniran, said the examination will take place  simultaneously in one hundred and forty-nine (149) towns across the Federation with a total of one thousand four hundred and  twelve (1,412) centers to be used for the exercise.

He noted that there is an indication of a decrease of 2.53% when compared with a total of two hundred and twenty thousand,  five hundred and seventy-three (220,573) candidates that sat for the 2003 MPCE.

According to him, the Board has dispatched, by post to candidates, examination notices indicating vital information such as  examination and center numbers and subjects to be taken in the examination based on candidates choices, adding, candidates  can also use the JAMB-ONLINE Services and the JAMB Wireless Information Service (WINEX) to check their examination  numbers and centers.

He advised candidates who may not have received their notices by Monday, 13th September, 2004 to go to the Checking  Centers of their chosen examination areas from today to collect the necessary information, emphasizing that candidates are  expected to report at the Checking Centers in their Examination Towns/Areas to identify the names of their allocated  examination centers which has been pasted within the premises of the Checking Centers.
