LG Funds: 'No Illegal Deductions in Ekiti' From Dipo Okunmuyide in Ado-Ekiti Chairman of Efon Local Government area of Ekiti State, Prince Aderogba Agbaje has denied the allegation that the state government is making illegal deductions from council allocations. Speaking at a press conference to mark his 100 days in office at Efon-Alaaye, Agbaje said apart from the statutory deductions, there was an agreement between the 16 chairmen and state government to create a joint account into which money would be deducted from the monthly allocations to execute capital projects. "We jointly signed an agreement with the governor to that effect, even Taye Fasubaa, chairman of Ado-Ekiti is a signatory to the pact. So, it is wrong for any chairman to accuse government of illegal deductions," he said. Speaking on the political crisis between the Chairman of Ado-Ekiti Local Government, Mr Taye Fasubaa and Governor Fayose, Agbaje said the problem is being fuelled by those campaigning for 2007, adding that the enemies of Fayose's administration see the crisis as an opportunity to discredit his government and destabilise the state. Agbaje assured that the problem would soon be resolved since President Olusegun Obasanjo and the National Executive of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have intervened.
