82 Bishops to Discuss Spirituality in Governance Enugu From Emmanuel Ugwu in Enugu Primate of the Nigeria Anglican Communion, Rt Rev. Peter Akinola is expected to lead 82 bishops and other leaders of the church to deliberate on how the church could assist the nation to apply spirituality in governance to enhance the welfare of the people. Anglican Bishop of Enugu, Rt Rev Dr Emmanuel Chukwuma, made this known yesterday while addressing newsmen on the meeting of the Church Standing Committee to be hosted by the Enugu Diocese between today and Sunday. According to Bishop Chukwuma, the church was poised to make itself available as an instrument for a better society, noting that the nation has over the years witnessed decline in morals in every facet of life. "The church is very sensitive to the spiritual decline in education, governance and other aspects of our national life," he said, adding, " we will get ourselves prepared as instruments to the Lord and move out as instruments to ensure that we have a bettersociety." The Bishop said the gathering of the faithfuls would deliberate on a wide range of national issues as well as review the relationship of the Church of Nigeria with the rest of the Anglican Communion worldwide in view of the burning issue of homosexuality in the church.
